Day 1 - Athens, Greece

Discover the ancient history of Greece, where great thinkers gave shape to modern-day civilization in the hallowed halls perched upon the gleaming white Acropolis. You will be met at the airport for a transfer to your hotel, located in the heart of the city. After checking in, you will have the remainder of the day to explore on your own. Day 2 - Athens, Greece

Take time to explore the main sites of Athens on your own. Visit the Parthenon, one of the largest structures built in ancient Greece, or browse the priceless collection of the new Acropolis Museum in the archaeological park. You may also choose to join an optional excursion to the Agora, once the political and social center of Athens, or to enjoy a guided walk in the historic Plaka District, built around the ruins of the city’s ancient marketplace and home to an array of cafés and shops. On your final day, you will transfer by motor coach to your awaiting ship. (B)

Immerse yourself in the legends of ancient Greece as you tour its most enriching archaeological sites. Arrive and transfer to your hotel, where you can relax or start getting acquainted with the city on your own. Day 2 - Mycenae & Epidaurus, Greece

Set out today to discover the Peloponnese peninsula, home of some of Greece’s most breathtaking ruins. At Mycenae, a millennia-old military stronghold, pass through the Lion Gate to begin exploring this amazing site, including the foundations of King Agamemnon’s palace and the Tomb of Agamemnon. Lunch is included. In Epidaurus, marvel at the massive ancient amphitheater. Locals still stage shows here and take advantage of its exceptional acoustics. (B, L)

Day 3 - Delphi, Greece

Today, visit Delphi, where an ancient oracle once influenced the fate of emperors and empires. Here, you will discover one of the most important museums in Greece, the Archaeological Museum of Delphi. Surrounded by the splendid beauty of Mt. Parnassus, you will marvel at the Temple of Apollo, the circular Tholos and more. After time to explore this magnificent site, stop in the picturesque mountain town of Arachova for lunch, then return to your hotel and enjoy an evening at leisure. (B, L)

Day 4 - Athens, Greece

Enjoy a free day to explore Athens on your own. A simple stroll reveals a vast range of architectural styles, from Greco-Roman to neoclassical. Behind the Hellenic Parliament, you can idle away the afternoon in the National Garden—38 acres of lush beauty in the heart of the city. This evening, you may sample the flavors and rhythms of Greece during a dinner outing if you wish. (B)

Day 5 - Athens, Greece

Discover the main sights of Athens with your Viking Tour Director. Head to the Acropolis to view the Parthenon, one of the largest structures built in ancient Greece. Admire its stately Doric columns and majestic setting before continuing to the new Acropolis Museum, a repository of priceless artifacts. Enjoy a leisurely lunch on your own and a stroll around the Plaka District, a bustling area near the ruins of the city’s ancient marketplace. Then, transfer to your ship to begin your cruise. (B)

Day 1 - Nafplio, Greece

Fly into Athens, where you will meet your Viking Representative and transfer to the coastal town of Nafplio, the first capital of Greece. Check in to your hotel and spend the rest of the day exploring at your leisure. Perhaps wander through the narrow alleys of the old town or take a relaxing stroll along the waterfront. This evening, enjoy dinner at your hotel. (D)

Day 2 - Nafplio, Greece

After breakfast, head to Nemea, a site of great archaeological interest said to be the home of the Nemean lion. Meet your guide and set out to see the ruins of a temple dedicated to Zeus, built around 330 BC, and hear about local myths. Then head to a family winery to indulge in a wine tasting before returning to Nafplio for a cooking demonstration, where you will learn about Greek cuisine and enjoy lunch. After, explore Nafplio on foot with your guide, before returning to your hotel. (B, L)

Day 3 - Nafplio, Greece

After breakfast, travel to a local apiary to gain insight into the fascinating process of honey production. Witness the harvesting up-close and sample the honey during a tasting session. Continue to Semeli Estate, holders of a Decanter World Wide Award, for a tasting of award-winning local wines. Later, explore on your own or join an optional excursion to visit the Palamidi Fortress. This evening, dine with your fellow guests at your hotel. (B, D)

Day 4 - Nafplio & Athens, Greece

After breakfast, check out of your hotel and depart Nafplio for Athens. Along the way, you will stop at an olive oil factory for an inside look at the production of this beloved export. Enjoy an interactive seminar where you will learn about the oil and have the opportunity to taste it, before indulging in lunch at the factory. Make a photo stop at the Corinth Canal before arriving in Athens, where you will board your ship and begin your cruise. (B, L)

Day 1 - Venice, Italy

Discover the former capital of the mighty Venetian Republic, the beautiful city of Venice. Famous for the canals that crisscross this “floating” city, Venice is ideal to explore on foot or by one of the excellent local water buses, or vaporetti. You will be met at your ship for a short transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day and evening are at your leisure. Day 2 - Venice, Italy

Today will afford you ample time to explore this storied city at your own pace. Discover the myriad hidden passageways and courtyards of Venice, and watch the ancient and modern worlds unfold over the perfect cup of cappuccino. Be sure to visit the magnificent Doge’s Palace and its works of art and elegant St. Mark’s Square, or take a boat over to Murano to glimpse the work of its legendary glassmakers. (B)

Day 3 - Venice, Italy

On your final day, you will transfer by motor coach to the airport for your return flight. (B)

At the conclusion of your cruise, disembark your ship and transfer by motor coach to Tuscany. Stop for lunch at a farmhouse, then continue through the Chianti region’s scenic countryside. Day 2 - Florence, Italy

This morning, drive to Florence for a walking tour of the city center, a UNESCO Site. See the Duomo as well as Giotto’s Bell Tower and the Baptistery, with its beautiful doors that Michelangelo called the “Gates of Paradise,” and more. After lunch, you will have free time to enjoy a gelato or espresso, shop, or explore the birthplace of the Renaissance. Then, proceed to a Tuscan winery, where you can tour the cellar and taste local wines before sitting down to a typical Tuscan dinner. (B, L, D)

Day 3 - Siena & San Gimignano, Italy

After breakfast, travel to the walled city of Siena, located in the heart of the Chianti wine region. On your walking tour, see the exterior of the exquisite marble cathedral, the beautiful Mangia Tower, the Town Hall, the Piazza del Campo and other historic sites. Then you will drive to the charming medieval village of San Gimignano and have lunch at a typical farm. Walk back in time as you explore the village’s ancient squares, narrow streets and elegant cistern built in 1273. (B, L, D)

Day 4 - Tuscany, Italy

Enjoy breakfast at your villa before you check out. Then, board your motor coach and transfer to the airport in Florence for your flight home. (B)

Disembark your ship in Venice and travel to the 16th-century Villa Giusti outside of Verona, temporary residence of King Victor Emmanuel III during World War I. Its lush palace gardens are considered one of the finest examples from the Italian Renaissance. Stroll among the age-old trees, gargoyles, fountains and echoing grottoes of this tranquil setting. After, proceed to Verona. Check in to your hotel, then enjoy free time to explore the city before having dinner at a local restaurant. (D)

Day 2 - Verona & Como, Italy

Discover romantic Verona, the setting of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. During a guided walk of this UNESCO World Heritage Site, you will see the balcony of Juliet’s House, the legendary home of the Capulets. View the Verona Arena and stroll through Piazza delle Erbe and the open air Piazza dei Signori, then contemplate the monumental Scaliger Tombs. After lunch, transfer to Como, where you will check in to your hotel. This evening, enjoy dinner at a local restaurant. (B, L, D)

Day 3 - Como, Italy

Board your private boat for a scenic cruise on Lake Como, long a draw for poets, artists and actors; George Clooney keeps a summer residence on its shores. Pass historic Villa Carlotta, renowned for its botanical gardens, and stop for free time in Bellagio, the “Pearl of Lake Como.” Return to Como for lunch on your own and free time to shop. Later, admire the Gothic Como Cathedral during a guided walk. This evening, take a cooking class, then enjoy the delicious dishes you have prepared. (B, D)

Depart your ship in Venice and enjoy a scenic drive to Lake Maggiore. Check in to your hotel and spend the rest of the day at your leisure, then enjoy dinner this evening with your fellow guests. Day 2 - Lake Maggiore, Italy

Take a private boat ride across the lake to the Borromean Islands, owned by the Borromeo family for centuries. On Isola Bella, visit the Palazzo Borromeo to admire its collection of period furniture and decor, then stroll through the botanical garden full of rare plants from across the world. Enjoy free time for lunch on Isola dei Pescatori and visit the baroque-style summer palace on Isola Madre. Walk its grand halls and view exquisite collections of paintings, armor and silk tapestries. Day 3 - Lake Como, Italy

Transfer to Como, long a draw for poets, artists and actors; George Clooney has a summer residence, Villa Oleandra, on its shores. Admire the beauty of your surroundings during a scenic cruise on the city’s eponymous lake. Disembark at the village of Bellagio, the “Pearl of Lake Como,” and enjoy free time to independently explore its stone lanes and cobblestone stairways lined with graceful, century-old buildings and inviting shops. This morning, check out of your hotel and transfer to the airport for your return flight home. (B)

This morning, disembark your ship and transfer to Venice for a guided walk along the winding cobblestone lanes of the vibrant Cannaregio neighborhood, once home to the city’s Jewish population. After lunch on your own, transfer to your hotel and check in. You are free to spend the rest of the day at your leisure. Day 2 - Venice, Italy

Enjoy a hearty breakfast, then you may choose to partake in an optional excursion with your fellow travelers. After lunch on your own, take a guided walk through the city, stopping to visit St. Mark’s Square. Admire its famous Campanile and the grand interior of the basilica, then view the 14th-century Doge’s Palace, once the seat of government for the Venetian Republic and Courts of Justice. Tonight, enjoy an evening of bellinis and Italian cuisine. (B, D)

Day 3 - Venice, Italy

After breakfast, set out for a guided stroll through the historic city center. At the bustling Rialto Market, browse stalls displaying the day’s catch and observe locals as they shop, followed by a cicchettilunch at a typical bacaro, or tavern. Spend the remainder of the afternoon at your leisure. This evening, take a cruise on the Grand Canal by water taxi, admiring the impressive palaces that line its banks and overarching bridges along this famous waterway. (B, L)
